Books for Boys–Cromwell Dixon’s Sky Cycle

August 11, 2011

I picked up Cromwell Dixon’s Sky Cycle by John Abbott Nez at our local library a few months ago. It’s a cute tale about a boy with a dream to invent a flying machine.  He and his mother work hard to make his dream come true and he is later known as “America’s Boy Aeronaut.” The best part . . . it’s a true story!

I think this book is great for a 6-9 year old boy with an interest in flying things or a big dream of any kind.  The book shows that it wasn’t all a piece of cake and that he made mistakes and had challenges along the way. If you are interested in reading more about Cromwell Dixon, you might enjoy Cromwell Dixon: A Boy & His Plane 1892-1911.

We enjoyed the colorful pictures and learning about the early days of flight.
