Geography Through Folk Tales: Tall Tales and Brer Rabbit

September 12, 2011

We continued our travels the past two weeks concentrating on American Tall Tales and storytelling from the American South.  If you remember, we started off with Native American stories.

We are still looking at our maps and learning about the people and places in North America.

We really enjoyed the tall tales. We even made up a story about our own hero–Paul Crockett–and his wild adventures.  Pickle read the stories several times each.  We also enjoyed reading and listening to different variations to talk about how storytellers embellish and change from telling to telling.
